"Bearbum: The World of Timba and Lula"
The Designer and Author - Natalie Munro
Natalie Munro is the creative mind behind the Bearbum stories and co-owner of Bearbum, a South African lifestyle brand dedicated to Babies and Children. Natalie was born and raised in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. From the tender age of six, her parents watched as her exceptional artistic talents grew. However, her most poignant form of expression is through poems.
Children love Natalie as she has the gift of story telling and enjoys sharing her creativity with them, empowering them to discover their own. It was while teaching at a nursery school where Natalie enhanced her understanding of young children. She longed for children of her own but found that she would have to wait due to a chronic illness. Devastated by the news, she first wrote a poem to her unborn children followed by a story: Timba and Lula - The Bearbum Story
Like a butterfly, Natalie goes through constant transformation and expands her colourful wings in multiple directions, to enrich her life and the lives of those close to her. She shares her life experiences through the Bearbum stories, touching the hearts of little ones and those who care for them.
The birth of the Timba & Lula story
Devastated by the news of her illness, Natalie first wrote a poem to her unborn children followed by a range of stories about the World of Timba and Lula. In them she shares her life experiences and values touching the heart of little ones and those who care for them. Using her diverse creative skills, she decided to share her story with the rest of the world by publishing the book and developing a range of unique merchandise designed to enhance the Bearbum experience and to create the world of Timba and Lula. Then, in order to bring her characters to life she developed a short animation thanks to a grant from the shell foundation, moved by her story and the impact it could have on adults and children.
